Dawgs Midget Red's Capture Medicine Hat Invitational

The Red Midget Dawgs got back on the winning track with a championship victory in the Medicine Hat Invitational. The Dawgs beat Saint F X in the first contest 7 - 3. Dawgs also won the second game against Red Deer 3 - 2. Sunday's game against PBF 5-2. Championship Game 5-0.

Clay Sinclair got the nod on the bump throwing 5 complete innings to get the win. Aaron McCarty pitched the sixth with no runs. Jeff Derks came in relief with two guys on in the 7th. 5 pitches later Derks recorded a strike out and a double play to pick up the save.

Offensively the Dawgs were led by Carson Wlad who led off the game with 2b off the wall. Garrett Kirkwood was 3 - 3 with 3 rbi's 2 sb. Erin Smith was 2 -4 with 2 rbi's. Carter Olive was 2 - 4 with 2 rbi's as well 2 sb. Jeremy Rose finished the day 2 - 4.

Recap of Red Deer Game 3 - 2

Dawgs faced Team Alberta pitcher Reign Lutke, Dawgs got off to a good start putting a run up in the 1st inning. The game would stay this way until the 5th when Red Deer would score a couple to take the lead 2 - 1. This would be the end of Jayde Johnson, who threw 5 complete giving up 2 on 5 k's 2 hits. Aaron Smith would come into relief for the 6th and 7th inning. In the bottom of the sixth the Dawgs would come back. Down 2 - 1 Sid Gillies led off with a Double. Carter Olive would bunt him over to third and reached as well on an errant throw by the catcher. With 1st and 3rd Dakota Upton hit a pinch hit single to tie the game. Carter Olive at third scored on a strike out 2 to 3 for what would be the winning run as Smith would go 1, 2, 3 to finish the 7th.

Recap of PBF Game 5-2

Matt Lloyd winning pitcher 6 innings 9 K's. Jake Gaetz got the save. Offense lead by Carson Wlad 3 for 4 with a double. Matt Lloyd 2 for 3 with a double. Dakota Upton 2 for 4. Matt Krol 2 for 3, 2 doubles and an RBI.

Winning pitcher Peter Werth and Jeff Derks got the save. Offense lead by Carson Wlad 2 for 4 with a double and RBI, Garrett Kirkwood 2 for 2 with an RBI and 3 sb, Dakota Upton with a double and RBI.

Midget Black

After a tough two losses on Friday night the Dawgs rebounded to beat Sherwood Park 15-1 and PBF 17-0. Kurtis Taylor threw 4 solid innings and the win behind a great offensive day lead by Alejo Lopez who had three hits. Josh Hillis added two hits and the boys stole 12 bases.

In the nightcap the Dawgs took down Calgary rival PBF by a score of 17-0. In just 4 offensive innings the Dawgs put up two touchdowns and a field goal led by Brendan Rose, Alejo Lopez, Layne Currie, and Ramon Valdez who each had two hits. The Dawgs again ran the bases well as they stole 11 bases. Shawn Andersen threw 4 shutout innings allowing just one hit and Eric Kahl came in to put up a zero in the fifth and final inning.
