It was a great weekend for the Dawgs 18U Black team as they managed to sweep the Edmonton Prospects in a 3 game series in Okotoks!
Dawgs 18U Black took the lead late and defeated Edmonton Prospects 6-4 on Saturday. The Dawgs were down 4-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Danny Donnelly hit a bases clearing double off of Tylor Jans, driving in three runs.
Ryan Morgan earned the after pitching 2.2 innings, surrendering zero runs, one hit, striking out three, and walking zero. Tylor Jans took the loss for Edmonton Prospects. He tossed one inning, giving up five runs, five hits, and walking one.
The Dawgs had 10 hits in the game. Cesar Valero, Gavin Logan, and Andrew Asselin each collected multiple hits.
Graham Brunner would get the start against his former teammates, and it was a good one! Brunner threw a complete game no-hitter, as the Dawgs defeated Edmonton Prospects 11-0 on Saturday. He tossed 5 innings, allowing 0 runs, 0 hits, 2 walks and struck out 6.
Offensively, the Dawgs were led by Greg Student, Tristan Peters and Cesar Valero. Both Peters and Valero collected doubles on the day, with 1 RBI and 2 RBI’s respectively. Student hit a 3-run triple and had 2 walks.
An early lead helped the Dawgs defeat the Edmonton Prospects 9-2 on Sunday. The Dawgs captured the lead in the first inning when Tristan Peters hit an RBI double. It was in the second inning when the Dawgs did the most damage - putting up 5 runs behind 2 big hits by Greg Student and Cesar Valero, who both hit 2-run doubles in the inning. The Dawgs did not look back, as they cruised to a 9-2 victory.
Scott Waterman earned the win - pitching 3 innings, 0 runs, 1 hit, 0 walks and 1 K.
