Dawgs Win Kelowna Invitational!

Tournament Recap:

Game 1 vs Victoria Mariners:

Dawgs 18U Red fell behind early and couldn't come back in an 8-3 loss to Victoria Mariners on Thursday. Victoria Mariners scored on a walk in the first inning, a single by Dylan Price in the first inning, a single by Lee in the first inning, a double by Chris Niketas in the second inning, a triple by Price in the second inning, and a double by Zeke Holt in the second inning. Liam Kruse earned the win for Victoria Mariners. He pitched five innings, allowing one run, three hits, striking out 11, and walking one. Tocheniuk took the loss for Dawgs 18U Red. He went one and two-thirds innings, surrendering seven runs, eight hits, striking out one, and walking one. Tate Morrell, Michael Johnson, and Jacob Libbus each drove in one run to lead Dawgs 18U Red.

Game 2 vs Edmonton Prospects:

Dawgs 18U Red took Friday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 9-8 walk-off victory over Edmonton Prospects. The game was tied at eight with Dawgs 18U Red batting in the bottom of the eighth when Tucker Zdunich singled, driving in one run. Both offenses were strong at the plate as Dawgs 18U Red collected five hits and Edmonton Prospects eight. Dawgs 18U Red scored five runs in the seventh inning. Dawgs 18U Red's big inning was driven by a fielder's choice by Chad Picton, a passed ball , and a error. Edmonton Prospects scored four runs in the sixth inning. Melvin Lorenzo earned the win for Dawgs 18U Red. He went one inning, allowing zero runs, zero hits, striking out one, and walking one. Branden Woods started the game for Dawgs 18U Red. He went five innings, surrendering three runs, three hits, and striking out four. Tucker Zdunich, Kye Seitz, Ayden Makarus, Ben Pelechaty, and Picton each drove in one run to lead Dawgs 18U Red.

Game 3 vs. Parksville Royals:

Dawgs 18U Red defeated Parksville Royals 2-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Melvin Lorenzo induced. Dawgs 18U Red didn't take the lead until later in the game. Dawgs 18U Red scored one run when Jacob Libbus doubled with one out in the seventh inning.. Aaron Peach earned the win for Dawgs 18U Red. He went six innings, giving up zero runs, four hits, and striking out four. Melvin Lorenzo recorded the last three outs to earn the save for Dawgs 18U Red. Nathan Doleman, Libbus, and Chad Picton all had one hit to lead Dawgs 18U Red.

Semi Final vs. Okotoks Dawgs 18U Black:

Four hits from Chad Picton helped lead Dawgs 18U Red past Dawgs 18U Black 7-3 on Sunday. Picton singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the sixth, and singled in the seventh. Dawgs 18U Red grabbed an early lead. Dawgs 18U Red scored on a groundout by Tucker Zdunich and a single by Chad Picton in the first inning. Dawgs 18U Red took an early lead in the first inning. Zdunich grounded out, scoring one run. Dawgs 18U Red scored three runs in the sixth inning. Dawgs 18U Red scored on an error and a walk. Tate Morrell earned the win for Dawgs 18U Red. He tossed one inning, allowing zero runs, two hits, striking out two, and walking zero. Scott Waterman took the loss for Dawgs 18U Black. He went two and two-thirds innings, surrendering three runs, four hits, and striking out one. Quinn Tocheniuk started the game for Dawgs 18U Red. He went three innings, giving up two runs, five hits, and walking zero. Dawgs 18U Red had nine hits in the game. Picton, Michael Johnson, and Zdunich each collected multiple hits for Dawgs 18U Red. Dawgs 18U Red didn't commit a single error in the field. Kye Seitz had the most chances in the field with six. Dawgs 18U Black collected ten hits. Tristan Peters, Tyler McWillie, and Greg Student each collected multiple hits for Dawgs 18U Black. Peters led Dawgs 18U Black with three hits in four at bats.

Championship Game vs. Victoria Mariners:

Nathan Doleman drove in five to lead Dawgs 18U Red past Victoria Mariners 19-10 on Sunday. Doleman drove in runs on a single in the second and a triple in the third. Dawgs 18U Red scored on a single by Jacob Libbus in the first inning. Red took an early lead in the first inning, scoring seven runs in the sixth inning. Victoria Mariners scratched back, scoring seven runs in the third inning. Luke Spadafora earned the win for Dawgs 18U Red. He tossed one and one-third innings, allowing four runs, and three hits. Jared Anderson started the game for Victoria Mariners. He pitched one and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs, four hits, and striking out two. Bryce Libke started the game for the. He tossed two-thirds of an inning, surrendering one run, and one hit. The Dawgs squad had 12 hits in the game. Seitz, Noah Penney, and Tate Morrell each collected multiple hits for Dawgs 18U Red. Victoria Mariners collected nine hits. Luke Seginowich, Piechnik, and Niketas each collected multiple hits for Victoria Mariners.
